Israel’s ambassador to India Reuven Azar on Tuesday targeted Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi posted an X on the Congress MP’s post in which it was claimed that the Israeli regime is committing genocide in Palestine and millions of people are at risk of starvation in Gaza during the ongoing conflict.

She wrote in the post, “The Israeli state is committing genocide. It has killed more than 60,000 people, including 18,430 children. It has starved hundreds of people, including many children, and millions of people are at risk of starvation.”

Priyanka Gandhi further said that promoting these crimes by silence and inaction is a crime in itself. It is shameful that the Indian government is silent while Israel is unleashing this devastation on the Palestinian people. Hitting back at Priyanka’s remarks, Azar condemned the Congress leader’s shameful deception. “Shameful is your misrepresentation. Israel has killed “25,000 Hamas terrorists”, he said, and the loss of lives is due to this Palestinian organisation hiding behind civilians and shooting at people who are being evacuated or trying to get aid.

He further said that Israel has so far delivered 2 million tonnes of food to Gaza, while Hamas is illegally withholding it to create starvation. The envoy asked Priyanka not to believe Hamas’ figures and said that Gaza’s population has increased by 450 per cent in the last 50 years. “Shameful is your deception.
