Your head also got confused after reading the title. But this is true. Actually, researchers in China are working on a humanoid pregnancy robot, which will be able to nurture the fetus through an artificial uterus till birth.

Let us tell you that according to reports from China, this unique project is being led by Dr. Zhang Qifeng, who is associated with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Traditional incubators only help in handling premature babies but this robot will give the experience of the entire pregnancy period from conception to delivery. An artificial uterus will be installed inside the stomach of this humanoid.

It will be filled with artificial amniotic fluid, which will provide conditions like human uterus for the development of the fetus. The supply of nutrition will be through a special tube just like the placenta nourishes the baby in a natural womb. According to reports, the first prototype of this pregnancy robot can be ready by next year. Its estimated cost is said to be around 1 lakh Yuan (about 12.96 lakh rupees).

According to Dr. Zhang, this idea is not completely new. A few years ago, scientists raised a premature lamb in an artificial womb called ‘Biobag’. It not only survived but also developed normally. Now his team is taking this technology to a new level where the journey from sheep to human-like robot is being undertaken.
