The “Samoud” flotilla, consisting of more than 70 boats from 44 countries, is heading towards Gaza

A member of the international aid flotilla “Samoud” has expressed his determination in an interview with Mehr News that the siege of Gaza must be broken, and that the Israelis are not afraid of threats.

According to a report by Mehr News Agency, the ongoing Zionist aggression on Gaza has sparked a strong global response. Public and social organizations around the world are actively participating in support and relief activities for the Palestinian people. Practical efforts are underway at various levels to break the tight siege of Gaza, including the departure of aid boats.

. The latest link in this series is the departure of the international flotilla “Samoud”. Aid workers and social workers on board the boat want to break the Zionist siege and reach Gaza in order to help the Palestinians suffering from hunger and famine.

Hassan Aqajani, a member of the international solidarity flotilla “Samoud” with Gaza, said in an exclusive interview with Mehr News that we are not afraid of Israel’s threats to break the siege of Gaza. Popular movements are the strongest and most effective strategy against the siege.

This flotilla, consisting of more than 70 boats from 44 countries, departed from Barcelona on August 31 with the aim of delivering humanitarian aid, food, medicine and conveying the voice of the Palestinian people to the world.

This international flotilla includes various organizations and movements, including the “Freedom Flotilla”, the “International Movement for Gaza”, the “Caravan of Samood” and Malaysia’s “Al-Samoud Nusantara”. In addition, several well-known environmental and human rights leaders such as Greta Thunberg and Mariana Murtaga are also participating.

According to the organizers, dozens of boats from Tunisia and several Mediterranean countries are expected to join the flotilla.

The boats set off from the ports of Barcelona, Genoa, Tunis and Greece with thousands of people on board and plan to reach the Gaza coast by mid-September. The route of the convoy will pass through Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and international waters near Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Zionist government has claimed that it will arrest the workers of the flotilla. However, according to Brazilian activist Tiago Avila, this time the number of participants and boats is much higher than before.

Hassan Aqajani, who was part of the convoy, told Mehr News that Samood is the third public convoy that has set off in this direction to break the siege of Gaza by sea and attract world public opinion to the Palestinian people.

He said that the first convoy was on board the “Madeleine” boat, in which social activists set off to break the siege of Gaza, but the boat was targeted by an Israeli drone attack between Italy and Mali. The second convoy was on board the “Hanzala” boat, which included 12 social activists. The boat reached the waters of occupied Palestine, but Israeli soldiers attacked and arrested the activists and later sent them back to their respective countries.

According to Aqajani, popular movements are the only way to break the siege of Gaza and save Palestinian women and children.

He said that in light of the experiences of previous naval convoys, the “Samoud” flotilla is moving towards Gaza with several dozen boats and ships in order to break the siege and deliver food and medicine there.

He added that those from Europe who wanted to join the caravan joined the convoy at the port of Barcelona, Spain. The convoy then headed to Tunisia, where more participants from Africa, Asia and the Americas also joined.

Aghajani said that Samood means perseverance and durability. The number of participants in the caravan is constantly increasing, with even Hollywood actors and social activists joining Tunisia to head to occupied Palestine.

He explained that the participants are being given special training on possible threats and Zionist attacks, so that if Israel tries to stop, attack or besiege the caravan, they can resist and aid can be delivered to the people of Gaza in any case.

Finally, Hassan Aghajani said that the Samood fleet is completely public and peaceful. Not only Muslims but also non-Muslims are participating in this caravan. Everyone has a clear position that we are not afraid of Israeli threats. Our lives are not more valuable than the lives of the people of Gaza. How can we tolerate that we live in peace and comfort while the people of Gaza suffer from siege and genocide?
