The US Embassy in New Delhi has issued a security alert for American citizens, urging them to avoid the areas around the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk, stay away from large crowds, and monitor local media for further updates.
The blast occurred on Monday evening after a high-intensity explosion in a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near the Red Fort Metro station in Delhi, killing at least 12 people and injuring more than 25. The embassy has advised its citizens to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and exercise caution in places frequented by tourists, including markets, transportation hubs, and other public places in the national capital.

Expressing condolences over the deadly explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi, the US said it is closely monitoring the situation. The State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs said in a post on Monday that “Our condolences go out to those affected by the terrible explosion in New Delhi. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our deepest condolences go out to the families who lost loved ones. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
