Special report on Bushra Bibi raises questions about Imran’s marriage and style of governance

The British magazine ‘The Economist’ has prepared a special report on Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in which some shocking revelations have been made.

There is a character in Pakistani politics who was rarely seen in public, but her behind-the-scenes influence and influence remained a topic of discussion. The first sign of Pakistan’s intelligence agency’s interest in Bushra Bibi came soon after her secret marriage to Imran Khan.

Indications of the intelligence agency taking advantage of the Imran-Bushra relationship

According to the report by ‘The Economist’, although the intelligence agency did not arrange this relationship, there were definitely indications that the agency was taking advantage of this relationship.

The report, citing some observers, stated that some members of the intelligence agency allegedly conveyed information to Bushra Bibi, which Bushra Bibi presented to Imran Khan as information obtained from her ‘spiritual insight’.

According to the report, former intelligence chief General Faiz Hameed used Bushra Bibi in a very subtle but effective way. The intelligence agency, through one of its officers, would convey information about upcoming events to one of Bushra Bibi’s peers, who would then pass it on to Bushra Bibi, and this information Bushra Bibi would present to Imran Khan as information obtained from her spiritual insight. When those predictions proved to be correct, Imran Khan’s faith in his wife’s insight would become even stronger.

According to the report, the disagreement over Bushra Bibi’s role was not limited to political circles. Imran Khan’s relations with the military leadership also became extremely tense at one stage. Some senior officials and even General Bajwa complained that Imran Khan listened to his wife more. This was the reason why the dismissal of the then ISI Chief General Asim Munir in 2019 is also linked to Bushra Bibi.

Bushra Bibi and the echo of witchcraft

Imran Khan’s driver and former household servants claimed that after Bushra Bibi’s arrival, strange rituals began in the house, such as spinning raw meat around Imran Khan’s head, burning red chillies, throwing the heads of black goats or chickens in the graveyard every day and occasionally ordering live black goats. The butcher in the area also confirmed such orders.

Jahangir Tareen meets Bushra Bibi

According to a report by ‘The Economist’, a relative of Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka told Jahangir Tareen that she practices black magic, but the PTI dismissed these claims as baseless stories spread by disgruntled employees.

According to the report, some time later, while meeting Jahangir Tareen at a party, Bushra Bibi herself told Jahangir Tareen that she was wearing white clothes so that he would not consider her a woman with black magic.

Jahangir Tareen said that she understood that night that she had no future in the PTI and later left the party.

Soon, the impression spread within the PTI that if anyone criticized Bushra Bibi, he would be expelled from the party.

Aun Chaudhry’s dismissal
Aun Chaudhry also came under fire for the same reason. Imran Khan sent him a message a few hours before the swearing-in ceremony that Bushra Bibi had a dream that if he was present at the ceremony, she would not attend, and the next day Aun Chaudhry was removed from office.

Imran’s revelation of taking Bushra Bibi’s opinion on political decisions
According to his family and close associates, Imran Khan used to take Bushra Bibi’s opinion before political and official decisions and, at her request, would send people’s photos for facial recognition, to the point where once the flight was delayed for four hours because Bushra Bibi said the flight time was not suitable.

‘The Economist’ has written that the former prime minister’s third marriage to Bushra Bibi raised questions not only about his personal life but also about his style of governance.

Senior journalist Owen Bennett Jones wrote in his report that according to the former prime minister’s close circle, Bushra Bibi tried to influence important appointments and daily government decisions, which led to complaints that ‘spiritual consultation’ dominated Imran Khan’s decision-making process and as a result, Imran Khan failed to implement his announced reform agenda.

Statement of the co-author of the special report

On the other hand, Bushra Taskin, co-author of the special report of the British magazine ‘The Economist’, told Geo News in an exclusive interview that she came across several surprising information while preparing the report on Bushra Bibi’s story.

She claimed that Bushra Bibi had assumed the mantle of spirituality and in this context she influenced the PTI founder.

She said that the PTI founder did not implement his political promises and the establishment played a central role in his politics.

Bushra Taskin further said that during the preparation of the report, it was difficult to explain the allegations related to ‘black magic’ to the institution and the staff, after collecting the evidence, it became easier for us to explain it to the institution and the people.

She claimed that the daily work of government institutions, appointments and transfers, everything was happening on the basis of magic and knowledge, the Prime Minister of a nuclear state was taking the decisions of his government on the basis of magic and ideas.

She said that the news of the PTI founder’s marriage to a concubine was surprising to her and Bushra Bibi was soon exposed due to her lack of political experience.
