Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s condition critical

The condition of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has become critical, she has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

According to Bangladeshi media, Khaleda Zia has been shifted to the intensive care unit due to lung and heart infection, where she is being monitored by a board of expert doctors.

The BNP has appealed to the nation to pray for Khaleda Zia’s speedy recovery.

It should be noted that Khaleda Zia was brought to the hospital on Sunday night due to a severe chest infection, which was affecting both the heart and lungs. Since then, she was undergoing treatment in the hospital, but in view of her deteriorating condition, she was shifted to the CCU.

The 79-year-old former prime minister suffers from multiple complex medical conditions, including heart problems, liver and kidney failure, diabetes, lung disease, arthritis and eye problems. She has a permanent pacemaker and has previously had stents inserted.

Khaleda Zia has been undergoing regular medical check-ups at Evercare Hospital since returning home from London in May. Her family, including Tariq Rahman and Zubaida Rahman, are in constant touch with doctors and are kept informed of her latest health status.
