Why shouldn’t we buy a blue car? / American media reaction
The results of several studies conducted in the US show that blue paint can significantly reduce the value of a car in the first few years of ownership.
According to the Independent, some car buyers pretend that the color of their car doesn’t matter to them, but the truth is that color affects what other people think of the car and ultimately the amount they are willing to pay for it.

In other words, the color of a car determines its price; If this were not the case, companies like Tesla would not charge so much for certain colors. This also means that color can speed up or slow down the car’s depreciation rate, and if you want the highest resale value, you’ll have to be strategic in your color choice.
iCars’ 2024 analysis, which studied more than 20 million vehicles (models 2004 to 2023) sold in the US from January 2023 to April 2024, shows that blue cars are the fifth most popular color.
White (27.6%), Black (22%), Gray (21.3%), and Silver (9.1%). However, blue remained ahead of red and many other colors.
New research from technology firm NexusMedia shows that the value of electric vehicles is falling drastically. Statistics show that one of the worst examples are blue electric vehicles, which could lose more than 50 percent of their value within five years.
For example, the blue Tesla Model Y has lost 50.4% in its value, while the red model has lost only 3.2% and the white model has lost only 0.8%.
