Era Lucknow Medical College continued its relief efforts for flood victims on Wednesday. A team reached the doorsteps of people grappling with hunger, thirst, and darkness—using boats to deliver food, drinking water, medicines, and solar lights. Receiving this aid brought smiles to their faces, and the victims expressed their gratitude to Era Medical College with teary eyes. For the past several days, the college has been assisting flood victims in areas such as Laddu Chauraha, Mama Colony, and Daudpur.

On Wednesday morning, the relief team from Era Lucknow Medical College first arrived at Saitha village in Barawan Kalan. Dozens of homes here remain submerged in water, and stranded residents wait daily for the arrival of food, water, and essential supplies. The team loaded boats with lentils, rice, drinking water, mosquito coils, biscuit packets, solar lights, and cooked meals, delivering them directly to the people’s doorsteps. Residents were delighted to receive relief materials during this difficult time. Prem Pal, a resident of Saitha village, mentioned that the power supply has been cut off due to the floods, leaving the area in darkness as soon as night falls.

Thanks to the solar lights provided by Era Lucknow Medical College, there will be light in at least one room. Additionally, the college’s team distributed packets of *poori-sabzi* (fried bread and vegetable curry) throughout the village. The team included Mohammad Tasavvur Ali Hashmi (MSW/RSTC) and Administrative Officer Hasrat Ali, alongside the medical team.
“Uncle, please give a packet for my sister too.”
A large crowd gathered as soon as aid from Era’s Lucknow Medical College arrived in Saitha village. The team distributed packets of *puri-sabzi* (fried bread and vegetable curry) to all family members in the village. People of all ages—youth, the elderly, women, and a large number of children—gathered there. Amidst the crowd, an innocent five-year-old girl said, “Uncle, my elder sister is at home too. Could you give a packet of *puri-sabzi* for her as well?” Moved by the child’s innocent voice, Tasavvur Ali from the team gave her a food packet along with rations and other essential supplies.

Era’s becomes a lifeline for Gomtikunj village
The team from Era’s Lucknow Medical College did not stop after delivering aid to flood victims in Saitha village. Their next destination was the Gomti Kunj colony in Barawan Kalan village, where life had come to a standstill. Residents there were still dependent on external aid for daily essentials. Upon learning about the plight of the residents, the team immediately loaded a boat with essential supplies and reached the people’s doorsteps.

Conditions for the colony’s residents were dire; floodwaters had entered their homes. Their faces lit up when the team from Era’s Lucknow Medical College arrived at their doorsteps by boat with essential supplies. The team also fed biscuits to animals stranded in the floodwaters.
