Azam Khan finally released from jail after 23 months, court ruling brings major relief

Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was released from Sitapur jail after nearly 23 months, having been granted bail in the Quality Bar land encroachment case. SP MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav accused the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh of implicating Azam Khan in false cases. He dismissed speculation of joining the BSP and stated that the Samajwadi Party fully supports him.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former Lok Sabha MP Azam Khan was released from Sitapur jail in Uttar Pradesh, where he had been imprisoned for nearly 23 months in the Quality Bar land encroachment case. SP MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav, who came to welcome Azam Khan, attacked the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, alleging that his colleague and former Lok Sabha MP Azam Khan had been implicated in false cases.

Addressing reporters, Yadav welcomed the court’s decision to grant bail to Azam Khan, who is lodged in Sitapur jail. Yadav, a six-time MLA from the Jaswantnagar assembly constituency, said, “Azam Khan was implicated by the government in false cases. However, the court has granted him bail and provided him relief in the cases.

I welcome this decision. I welcome the Supreme Court and the High Court. Many false cases were filed against him. The Samajwadi Party stands with him.”

Asked whether Khan would join the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Yadav dismissed these claims, saying, “These are all lies. The Samajwadi Party is completely with him.”

Khan recently received bail from the Allahabad High Court in a land encroachment case. Earlier, the Allahabad High Court on Thursday granted bail to former Uttar Pradesh minister Mohammad Azam Khan in the Quality Bar land case. Speaking to ANI, Azam Khan’s lawyer Mohammad Khalid said that with this bail, there are no pending cases keeping him in jail, indicating that he is likely to be released soon.
