After accusing Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha of having two voter IDs, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has cornered Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the issue. Akhilesh accused Yogi of helping in ‘vote loot’ and ‘booth loot’.

The controversy started when RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav claimed that Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has two voter ID numbers from two different constituencies. Responding to this allegation, Sinha has denied these claims.

Linking this controversy to Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav said that if the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar has two voter IDs, then the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh is helping in ‘vote looting’. He mentioned the by-elections held in November last year and said that education department officials were given responsibilities in Ayodhya. Besides, he accused the Commissioner, SSP and DM in Mirapur of using force to ensure that people did not come out to vote.

In a video, Akhilesh Yadav also referred to the alleged incident of a policeman pointing a gun at women voters in Mirapur. He asked, “Didn’t we see a revolver being pointed at women, was the Election Commission sleeping?” He further said that when the officials themselves become criminals for vote looting, who will take action?
