IMD’s yellow alert in Mumbai, roads flooded due to torrential rains overnight, local trains slowed down.
Heavy rains in Mumbai on Monday morning affected traffic and life during peak hours, causing waterlogging in many low-lying areas and delaying local trains. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune and surrounding areas and a yellow alert for Mumbai and Thane.
Heavy rains in Mumbai started late Sunday night and continued till the morning of September 15, 2025, leading to heavy waterlogging and traffic jams in many parts of the city. According to reports related to rain in Mumbai, the intensity of rain peaked between 2:00 am and 5:30 am.

After overnight rains in the city, the India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Pune and surrounding areas Thane, Raigad and Mumbai on Monday. According to the warning issued by the IMD, Pune, Raigad, Satara and Aurangabad are likely to receive heavy rain and thundershowers, for which an orange alert has been issued. At the same time, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Mumbai, city and suburbs and Thane.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), between 8.30 am on Sunday and 5.30 am on Monday, Colaba received the highest rainfall of 88.2 mm, followed by Bandra at 82 mm and Byculla at 73 mm.
The Mahul Tata Power Station received 70.5 mm rainfall, while Juhu recorded 45.0 mm rainfall. Santacruz and Mahalaxmi received relatively less rainfall at 36.6 mm and 36.5 mm, respectively, an IMD official said.
