India successfully tests Agni-Prime missile
India makes history by successfully testing Agni-Prime from a rail-based mobile launcher, joining select nations.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that India has successfully test-fired the Agni-Prime missile from a rail-based mobile launch system. This next-generation missile is designed to strike at a range of up to 2,000 kilometers and is equipped with various advanced features.
India successfully test-fired the Agni-Prime missile, an advanced medium-range ballistic missile, from a rail-based mobile launcher system on Thursday. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that India has successfully test-fired the Agni-Prime missile from a rail-based mobile launch system. This next-generation missile is designed to strike at a range of up to 2,000 kilometers and is equipped with various advanced features.
Singh, in a post on X, said this was the first launch of its kind from a specially designed rail-based mobile launch system. He said it has the capability to travel on the rail network, enabling users to respond within a very short time, even in low visibility, anywhere across the country.
The Defence Minister further stated that the success of the flight test puts India among a select few countries that have developed a “canisterized launch system from a mobile rail network.” Singh said, “Congratulations to DRDO, the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), and the Armed Forces for the successful flight test of the medium-range Agni-Prime missile.”

The post further said, “Congratulations to DRDO, Strategic Forces Command (SFC), and the Armed Forces on the successful flight test of the medium-range Agni-Prime missile. This successful flight test has placed India among a select group of countries that have the capability to develop a canisterized launch system from a mobile rail network.”
