Prime Minister Modi today flagged off three new express trains connecting the capital of Mizoram to Delhi, Guwahati and Kolkata. I am the ambassador of the beautiful culture of the Northeast. We will develop the sports economy in the Northeast. Mizoram has given many champions and with the new sports policy we will take it further. Mizoram’s bamboo products, organic ginger and bananas are famous. We are trying to make life easier and make business easier. We have announced the new GST system and prices have come down drastically. In 2014, there was a hefty tax of 27 per cent on items of daily use, now it is 5 per cent. This time the festive season will be more cheerful. Travel and eating out will become cheaper, which will help people move around more. Our economy has seen a growth of 7 per cent, India is the fastest growing major economy in the world. During Operation Sindoor, our soldiers taught a lesson to those who sponsor terrorism. The development of our economy is very important for our national security. Empowerment of people will create a developed India. I bow to the Supreme God Pathian, who watches over this beautiful land of blue mountains. I have reached Mizoram airport. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, I am not able to meet you in Aizawl. Still, I can truly feel your affection from here.

Describing the specialty of the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, PM Modi said, ‘A few years ago, I had the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the Aizawl railway line and today we are proud to dedicate it to the countrymen. Overcoming many challenges including difficult terrain, the Bairabi-Sairang railway line has become a reality. The skill of our engineers and the enthusiasm of our workers have made it possible.’
