No question of reducing tariffs on India: Trump’s strong message to the Modi government
India has been trading unilaterally with the US for a long time and has hurt American manufacturers, US President

Washington: US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized India’s trade policies and made it clear that he has no plan to reduce tariffs imposed on India.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump said that India has been trading unilaterally with the US for a long time and has hurt American manufacturers.
He said that India has imposed the world’s highest taxes on American products, due to which many companies have faced difficulties.
Citing an example, Trump said that American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson could not sell its products in India because India had imposed a 200 percent tariff, due to which the company had to set up a plant in India to avoid the tax.
The US President said that now, due to the policies of his administration, companies from all over the world are investing in the United States, including automakers from China, Mexico and Canada. The production of these companies in the United States will create new job opportunities and strengthen the American economy.
He added that the recent offer from India that it is ready to reduce its tariffs to zero has come too late. This offer should have been made many years ago.
