Obama warned about artificial intelligence; job changes will start soon
Former US President Barack Obama warned that artificial intelligence is entering people’s daily lives faster than expected.
According to “Online Information” and Smart News, Barack Obama warned that the artificial intelligence revolution “is not hype” and said: “You will see changes soon…”
The former US president warned thatt artificial intelligence is “coming to your neighborhood faster than you think”, stressing that this technology is already reshaping white-collar jobs and may accelerate economic disruption.
What happened? “The AI boom is not a hoax, it’s not an exaggeration. You’re probably in it right now,” Obama said in an interview with prominent historian Heather Cox Richardson at the Connecticut Forum after a backstage meeting with business owners in Hartford.
“I assure you that you will soon see a shift in office jobs because of the capabilities of new models of artificial intelligence,” he said, predicting that the trend will “accelerate exponentially.”
The comments come as investment giants and corporate executives grapple with estimates that artificial intelligence could eliminate half of low-level jobs within five years. Obama previously issued a similar warning on social media, calling for a public debate about the technology’s “rapid impact” on jobs.
Obama also dismissed skeptics who see AI as the same as previous waves of technology. “Most of the problems we face are not just technological,” he said, “but the pace of change is such that policies for displacement and conversion must be put in place much earlier than previous industrial waves.”
