Finally what everyone hoped would never happen has happened. Nissan has started the production of the last Nissan GT-R R35, saying goodbye to this legendary car. After 18 years of production, the last Nissan GT-R R35 has rolled off the assembly line in Japan. The Nissan GT-R has been in production since 2007 and about 48,000 units have been built at the Tochigi plant.

Nissan CEO Ivan Espinoza has assured fans that a new generation of Godzilla will be released. However, he has announced that the next generation of the car, called the R36 series, will not be released soon.
Nissan has given a glimpse of the future of the GT-R. It will be based on the Hyperforce concept. The Hyperforce concept surprised everyone at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show with its 1,341 horsepower, solid-state battery and 200 km/h top speed. It is not yet clear whether the next-generation Nissan GTR will retain the internal combustion engine.

Nissan is currently facing many big challenges, including a serious financial situation. The launch of a new supercar like the next-generation Nissan GT-R will help repair the brand’s damaged image. However, releasing a low volume of product will not improve the company’s profits. Nissan is planning to close seven plants and is preparing to eliminate 20,000 jobs. The company also plans to reduce the complexity of components by 70 percent and consolidate 13 existing platforms into seven.
The R35 Nissan GT-R was one of the longest-running Japanese cars that is still in production today. However, the GT-R’s longevity is less than that of the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series. Toyota has been manufacturing the J70 Series Land Cruiser since 1984, and even after 41 years, it is still sold in Japan, Australia and the Middle East.
