The US President, who was looking forward to seeing China’s victory parade and the presence of 26 world leaders in Beijing, addressed the Chinese leader in a post on social media after seeing the leaders together, writing: “The biggest question that needs to be answered is whether President Xi Jinping of China will remember the immense support and “blood” that the United States has given to help China regain its independence from an extremely hostile foreign invader.

Many Americans have died in China’s pursuit of victory and glory. I hope they are properly honored and respected and their courage and sacrifice remembered! May this be a great and lasting day of celebration for President Xi and the wonderful people of China.
