UP: Claim of temple in Fatehpur mausoleum, two parties face to face, police alert
The Bajrang Dal has claimed that the structure is a temple and demanded that they be allowed to worship here. Bajrang Dal’s Fatehpur district co-convenor Dharmendra Singh said that we will worship here in the afternoon. The administration will not be able to stop us.
Members of an organization on Monday vandalized a mausoleum in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh and claimed that the structure is built on a temple. The district administration has deployed heavy police and PAC forces in the entire area and put up barricades around the disputed site to prevent any further disturbance. The dispute is over the structure located in Abu Nagar in Radiya area of Sadar tehsil.
The tomb, officially registered as Maqbara Maangi (national property) under Khasra number 753 in government records, has become a bone of contention after the Math Mandir Sanrakshan Sangharsh Samiti and other Hindu groups, including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), declared it a temple dedicated to Thakurji and Lord Shiva, which is reportedly more than a thousand years old.
